A reasonable adjustment is an action that helps to reduce the effect of a disability or difficulty that places the candidate at a substantial disadvantage in the learning and assessment situation. Reasonable adjustments are approved by WSET Awards and put in place before the assessment activity takes place; they constitute an arrangement to give the candidate access to the qualification. The use of a reasonable adjustment is not taken into consideration during the assessment of a candidate’s work. Students/candidates may ask for reasonable adjustment with us.
Applicants with special educational needs, either with regard to the course or examination, must inform us at the time of enrolment, on the registration form. Applications for reasonable adjustment regarding the course must be submitted 4 weeks before the start of the class while those for the exams at least 5 weeks before the examination date so that we will be able to take necessary measures.
Candidates qualifying for reasonable adjustment may be entitled to:
Reasonable adjustments must not give unfair advantage over other students/candidates. We will inform you directly when we cannot meet the requirements.
The student/candidate must, if required by MWEC, be able to provide proof of a special educational need by an authorized person. We reserve the right to seek advice from independent agencies as appropriate in coming to a decision on specific arrangements, and for the cases about exams, subject to the consent of WSET Awards.
Last but not least, the personal data that students and candidates provide to us for the reasonable adjustment and all communication with students and candidates, such as e-mail or written request, are stored in a safe location and only accessible by authorized users. Please refer to MWEC’s Data Protection Policy for details.
